KRAFTON India Strengthens the Gaming Ecosystem with New Titles, $140M Investment, and Esports Expansion

KRAFTON India, the makers of the popular mobile game BGMI (BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA), continue to reinforce their commitment to India’s rapidly growing gaming industry. As part of its long-term vision, the company is gearing up to launch 3-4 new game titles, further expanding its offerings for Indian gamers.

In a significant move to support India’s gaming ecosystem, KRAFTON India has committed over $170 million to Indian startups since 2021, with plans to invest an additional $140 million in the coming years, fostering innovation and driving growth in gaming and related technology sectors. Additionally, the company is making a strong push in Esports by announcing a prize pool of INR 4 crore through BGIS and BMPS 2025, underscoring its dedication to providing competitive opportunities for the country’s talented gaming community.

KRAFTON India is also set to expand its workforce in India by 30-40%, reinforcing its focus on local talent and strengthening its operations in one of the world’s most dynamic gaming markets.

Furthering its support for India’s gaming ecosystem, KRAFTON also focuses on empowering developers through the KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator (KIGI). The program provides financial backing, ranging from $50,000 to $150,000 per team and mentorship, helping developers scale their projects. KIGI has already mentored studios like ReDimension Games, Shura Games, Dunali Games, and Arjuna Studios, enabling them to grow and innovate in the competitive gaming space.

Recently, KRAFTON also announced a first-of-its-kind program for budding Esports talent called the Rising Star. This is a comprehensive growth initiative focusing on gaming, content creation, and mental well-being and calls for Esports’ players from across the country to register and stand a chance to be a part of the program. Further strengthening its grassroots efforts, KRAFTON is expanding its Esports College Campus Tour in 2025 with a ₹2 Crore prize pool, inspiring young gamers to pursue Esports as a viable career.

Recognizing the deep connection Indian gamers have with local culture, KRAFTON India continues to collaborate with Indian brands and celebrities to bring culturally resonant content and deliver an immersive gaming experience. In line with this, KRAFTON brought on-board Global Icon Deepika Padukone as Brand Ambassador for BGMI, as a part of which Deepika Padukone featured as a playable character within BGMI. Additionally, the gaming leader also joined forces with Mahindra Electric to Redefine Virtual Engagement and bring Mahindra’s Electric Origin SUV- BE 6 into the dynamic universe of BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI).

Building on a year of significant achievements, KRAFTON India has seen BGMI surpass 200 million downloads and set new records in Esports viewership. In addition to expanding its gaming and Esports initiatives, KRAFTON India continues to promote responsible gaming through its Game Responsibly campaign. Encouraging players to maintain a healthy game-life balance, the initiative reminds gamers to take breaks, stay mindful of their well-being, and enjoy gaming in moderation. This ongoing effort reinforces KRAFTON India’s vision of creating an immersive yet responsible gaming environment.

With these strategic initiatives, KRAFTON India aims to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of gaming in the country, fostering innovation, and creating opportunities for gamers, developers, and Esports professionals alike.

KRAFTON India leaders were in Chandigarh on the sidelines of a visit to Chitkara University for an initiative by CII titled Game Forge. The spokespersons stated, “2024 has been remarkable for us at KRAFTON India, and we aim to build on this momentum by introducing 3-4 new game titles in the country in 2025. Our continued efforts, including strategic investments and support for local talent, reflect our vision to redefine gaming in India and create a thriving, inclusive gaming ecosystem”. They further reinforced, “Our Esports initiatives such as BGIS, BMPS, Campus Tour and the recently launched Rising Star program, reflect KRAFTON India’s vision to cultivate a thriving Esports ecosystem in the country. Our mission goes beyond identifying talent; we aim to nurture a community of passionate players capable of elevating India’s Esports landscape to global standards.”
